What we have to offer

A Masters Degree right at your fingertips!

In 2004, The Texas State University School of Social Work launched a technology assisted MSW degree program with an emphasis in rural child welfare. This program is tailored to address the unique needs and challenges of social work in a rural setting.
Currently, The School of Social Work is not accepting applications for this program, but we anticipate starting a new cohort in August 2008. We will post announcements on this site when we begin the review process. This degree program will enable you to enroll as a part-time student and receive your degree from home while you continue to work. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who live in largely rural areas and cannot otherwise commute to an on-campus MSW degree program.

How do on-line courses work?

The online course delivery system allows professors to post course syllabi, supplementary readings, assignments and lecture notes online for student access. In addition to downloading course materials, students can participate in online class discussions and correspond with professors and classmates via e-mail. Exams and papers are submitted online via e-mail. Field placements are offered in or near your local community. Occasionally, the School of Social Work will provide additional learning opportunities on campus at Texas State University - San Marcos.

Who are we looking for?
This program is ideally designed for those students who are full-time employees committed to the additional demands of part-time study. Specific application requirements will be posted when we begin accepting applications for the next online cohort. Application requirements can be generally be reviewed on the Texas State University-San Marcos, School of Social Work website.
